A social media campaign which called itself Blacktivist was recently linked to the Russian Government according to a CNN exclusive. The social media campaign used Facebook and twitter to allegedly amplify racial tensions during the U.S. presidential election between Trump and Clinton. Two anonymous sources told CNN this breaking news. The twitter account has already been handed over to congress and the Facebook account is expected to be handed over in the coming days.

The Blacktivist page used a lot of content which would was intended to stoke outrage to anyone who watched it. “Black people should wake up as soon as possible”, one of the posts on Twitter said. “Black families are divided and destroyed by mass incarceration and death of black men”, another read. The account posted a lot of police brutality videos of African Americans.

The accounts provided a lot of evidence that the Russian-linked social media accounts saw racial tensions as something to be exploited in order to achieve the Russian overall goal of dividing the United States and creating chaos in politics during a campaign in which race always became an issue.

The handle prompted a lot of real events that were thrown by other organizations but they were more so working on increasing the turn out of these black events.

The Blacktivist account was one of many found that were linked to the Russian Government.

The U.S. Intelligence is looking into the matter further.
