The Black Panther star wants to bridge the gap of inequality due to race towards black women.

Michael B. Jordan starts a Black Owned Production Company

Amid Mo’Nique’s Boycott against Netflix for black actresses and comedians to get fairly paid, Michael B. Jordan is taking steps to help the cause for Black women in his own way. His production company, Outlier Society, recently hired a Black woman as the head of production and development and that’s a goal the “Black Panther” star has always had.

“Alana Mayo is a strong Black woman, super creative and talented,” he told Vibe Tuesday, Jan. 30. “I always wanted my company to be ran by women and that was always my goal, my dream, so I got lucky enough to hire her to run my company. That is my first step in helping out that cause. What’s going to solve that problem or discrepancy or gap? It’s going to take a lot more people that are smarter than me to figure that out, but I want to be a part of the solution.”

So as Jordan’s production company seeks to make opportunities for Black actresses, he also hopes to use it to tell “stories that aren’t often told through a perspective that’s not often seen.”

It’s Your World.
