The State of Maryland was found to be running a two-track system with education despite federal laws banning racial segregation in 2013 and STILL hasn’t resolved the issue.

Maryland Historically Black Colleges and Universities Fight for Proper Funding

Despite a federal court ruling in 2013 that agreed duplicating programs within HBCUs undermined their funding no resolution was put in place to correct the issue. As a result such schools are placed at a disadvantage in comparison to schools with a predominantly Caucasian student body.

Students from several schools within the state of Maryland (including Coppin State, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Bowie State and Morgan State University) gathered in protest to help facilitate awareness surrounding this issue and in hopes to bring the state to distribute funding which will help fix and repair the institutions.

It’s Your World.
