Alex Trebek named a potential host.

Could A Black Woman Be The Next Host Of Jeopardy?

The game show Jeopardy is one of the most popular syndicated shows in the country. Alex Trebek has been the host since 1984 and the 78-year-old is considering retiring. However, he has some potential hosts in mind, and one of them happens to be a Black woman.

In an interview with TMZ, Trebek was asked how they should replace him and he said, “There is an attorney, Laura Coates. She’s African-American, and she appears on some of the cable news shows from time to time.”

Coates is a CNN legal analyst and host of the popular The Laura Coates Show on SiriusXM Urban View channel 126. Coates was ecstatic to hear the news and wrote on Twitter, “Incredibly honored & humbled @Jeopardy Alex Trebek 1) knows who I am 2) thinks I’d be a great host of my fave game show ever that I grew up watching w/ my family & still watch w/ my own kids (who saw him say this & now think I’m a genius) #Dying.”

She wrote a book in 2016 titled You Have the Right: A Constitutional Guide to Policing the Police and is an adjunct professor at the George Washington University School of Law. She gives lectures across the country about social justice. Check out Coates in action below on CNN.

We are so here for Laura Coates being the next host of Jeopardy, but don’t hold your breath. Trebek said it’s only a 50 percent chance he will retire in 2020.

It’s Your World.
